Reports on Monday claimed that the World Cup winner’s agent, Mino Raiola, had travelled to Manchester in attempt to force through a move to Camp Nou.

With Thibaut Courtois seemingly set on trying to force a move away from Stamford Bridge to Real Madrid, Chelsea have been linked with Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that the Blues are willing to pay the Slovenian’s £89m release clause.

Meanwhile, the Mirror report that West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

Finally, the Daily Record say that Fulham are among a group of clubs interest in signing former Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata from Celtic.

Once Lucas Perez joins from Arsenal West Ham will have spent £100m in the transfer window in a remarkable show of faith in new manager Manuel Pellegrini, who has been handed control of a transfer domain that was once David Sullivan.

Club record signing Felipe Anderson, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko will add sparkle to the London Stadium but Pellegrini's squad may lack steel in central areas.

Key signings: Ryan Fredericks (free, Fulham), Issa Diop (£22m, Toulouse), Lukasz Fabianski (£7m, Swansea), Jack Wilshere (free, Arsenal), Andriy Yarmolenko (£17.5m, Dortmund), Fabian Balbuena (£3.5m, Corinthians), Felipe Anderson (£47m, Lazio)

Key departures: James Collins (released), Patrice Evra (released), Reece Burke (£1.5m, Hull), Cheikhou Kouyate (£10m, Crystal Palace)

Thibaut Courtois failed to report for training at Chelsea today as he tries to force through a move to Real Madrid.

The Belgium international has less than one year left on his contract and is not interested in discussing an extension.

While the 26-year-old is keen to move to the Spanish capital to be closer to his two children who live there, he wants a switch to the Bernabeu anyway.

Coach Maurizio Sarri confirmed he spoke with both Eden Hazard and Courtois a few days ago on the phone and expected to meet them face-to-face at the club’s base at Cobham today.

But while Hazard, who has also been subject of interest from Real Madrid turned up as instructed, Courtois was nowhere to be seen.

It puts more pressure on Chelsea to find a replacement before the Premier League transfer window shuts on Thursday.

The Blues have looked at a number of options but missed out on first choice Alisson to rivals Liverpool.

Stoke City keeper Jack Butland is emerging as a real possibility ahead of Kasper Schmeichel and Petr Cech.

But Chelsea face paying a similar sum for Butland as the £35.5m fee Real Madrid are prepared to spend on Courtois.

The latter won the Golden Glove at the World Cup as he starred for Belgium, whereas Butland didn’t play a game for England.

Chelsea are huge admirers of England No1 Jordan Pickford, but Everton have no interest in selling and are preparing a new contract.

Significantly, Courtois spent three years on loan at Atletico Madrid between 2011-14 after joining Chelsea from Genk.

Courtois replaced Cech as Chelsea's first choice keeper four years ago and has won four major trophies in that time, including two League titles.

But he has always talked about going back to La Liga one day and is set to get his wish.

Tottenham might be confident of signing him but that move won't be going through tonight you suspect - Jack Grealish starts for Aston Villa against Hull in their Championship opener.
